Renault has recently unveiled the Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition. This is a special-edition electric hatchback that has nostalgia and modern EV technology. much like what Fiat did with the Grande Panda. The model pays tribute to the iconic Clio Williams of the 1990s. Developed in collaboration with a Dutch dealer, Zeeuw & Zeeuw, and a design firm, Re-Volte, the Monte Carlo will be a collector’s treasure.
The brand says only 25 units of the Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition will be available, and they are exclusive in the Netherlands. While it may look sporty, this collector’s EV focuses more on style than speed. Let’s get into the details.
Exterior Design & Styling
The Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition looks fabulous, featuring a Midnight Blue finish paired with a black roof. This combo is already familiar to Renault fans. What sets it apart is the bold gold livery running across the grille, sides, and rear hatch, which is a clear nod to the Clio Williams’ iconic look.
This EV rides on Bespoke 19-inch gold alloy wheels, giving the small EV a rally-inspired stance. Although it is based on a modern electric platform, the car leans heavily into the retro aesthetics. From the pictures, you can see the visual link between Renault’s motorsport past and its electric future.

Interior Features & Heritage Touches
Inside, the Monte Carlo Edition carries its tribute further with black leather and Alcantara upholstery. Highlighting these details is a special gold stitching, which gives it a premium look. The standard bucket seats get a subtle upgrade as the classic blue “W” emblem from the Clio Williams is swapped for a gold “5”.
The EV’s center console features a commemorative plaque that adds exclusivity to the cabin. Overall, I’d say the interior has the nostalgic design cues and modern materials, which is what i think they were going for, and they nailed it.
Performance And Specs

Despite its sporty looks and heritage-inspired design, the Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition sticks to the standard electric drivetrain found in the base model. It uses a 121 horsepower (90 kW) electric motor paired with a 40 kWh battery. Expect an estimated 309 km (192 miles) WLTP range on a full charge.
Acceleration isn’t a strong suit either. The car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100km/h) in about 9 seconds, and has a top speed of 93 mph (150 km/h). This falls short of the performance legacy of the original Clio Williams, which packed a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter producing 145 horsepower.
Notably, the Monte Carlo Edition does not use the more powerful 148 horsepower version of the Renault 5 E-Tech. Instead, it opts for the less powerful motor. This choice means the car prioritizes style, as I mentioned earlier.

Pricing & Availability

The Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition is priced at €37,995 ($44,400). This price tag means that the EV is about €8,000 ($9,400) more than the standard Renault 5 E-Tech Urban Range Techno trim, which starts at €29,990 ($35,000). That price buys the exclusive styling, upgraded interior materials, and a collector’s appeal.
Only 25 units will be produced, and all are exclusively available in the Netherlands through Zeeuw & Zeeuw’s dealership network. This model is aimed at collectors and fans of Renault’s motorsport legacy.
