2024 Chevelle 70/SS Preview: Nostalgic Muscle Car Revival

The Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 commanded the muscle car scene during its heyday. It was the car that oozed a special vibe that competitors couldn’t match. Sadly, things had to come to an end, Chevrolet discontinued the Chevelle after the third generation, largely because GM decided to narrow down the lineup and save costs. For a while now, we’ve been longing for a Chevelle rebirth that never came. Now, the iconic Camaro is saying goodbye, leaving us longing for a new Chevelle. Trans Am Worldwide has our backs with their cool 2024 Chevelle 70/SS—a modern take on the classic. It turns out they do have our backs after all.

This beast offers three engines, from 450 hp to a whopping 1,500 hp. What’s even cooler? They nailed the ’70s Chevelle SS design. The 2024 Chevelle rebirth is magnificent, bringing back all of our childhood memories. It may even outperform the Camaro Collector’s Edition in Chevrolet’s muscle car endgame.

Our 2024 Chevelle 70/SS preview discusses the muscle car’s nostalgic design, range of powerful engines, and modern technology.

The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Is A Powerful Muscle Car

One of the most unique aspects of this muscle car is its powerful output. And brace yourself for this next part. Trans Am Worldwide made the 2024 Chevelle a muscle car powerhouse. Thanks to the engine, the Chevelle 70/SS earned the title of “King of the Muscle Cars” for 2024. The contemporary version of the Chevelle SS 454 shares 450 horsepower from its base powerplant, just like the original model. Like the Camaro LT1, 1SS, and 2SS variants, the Chevelle 70/SS is powered by the same 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine. We expect 500 lb-ft of torque, just like the 1970s Chevelle SS, even though TAW has not released the torque statistics.

The second option is a wild 6.4-liter LT V8 cranking a hefty 900 hp. The top-tier engine option outshines the most powerful production muscle car today and even the standard Bugatti Veyron. Trans-Am Worldwide went all-in, fitting a monstrous 1,500 hp LS6/X twin-turbocharged 454 (7.4-liter) Chevy crate engine in the 2024 Chevelle SS.

The Chevelle 70/SS is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. Not stopping there, Trans Am Worldwide offers a custom 3-inch axle-back exhaust system and a range of brakes and tire upgrades to harness the power of the monster V8 options in the 2024 Chevelle revival. Get ready for a muscle car experience that’s off the charts!

The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Has A Unique Nostalgic Design

The Chevrolet Camaro holds an iconic status in the muscle car realm. However, its upgrades, have been lackluster over the years, especially when compared to the Ford Mustang. Starting in 2016, the Camaro underwent only aesthetic changes. Very soon the Chevy Camaro began falling behind its competitors and losing its appeal in the market, leading to declining sales figures. As a result, Chevy has decided to discontinue the iconic Camaro after 2024.

This modernized Chevelle pays homage to one of the ’70s most potent muscle cars, staying true to the original in a remarkable real-world recreation. Trans Am Worldwide even introduces a range of nostalgic “Heritage colors” to evoke sentimental feelings.

In comparison to the aging Camaro, Trans Am Official’s recreation of the Chevy Chevelle SS, aptly named the 70/SS, stands out as a superior and faithful revival. It’s worth noting the irony that the 70/SS is built upon the foundation of a sixth-gen Camaro SS.  Which brings us to our next point.

The New Chevelle 70/SS Is Based On The Camaro

Trans Am Worldwide has a history of crafting rides based on the fifth-gen 2010-2015 Camaros. It’s almost become a winning formula at this point. However, for the 70/SS, TAW used the sixth-gen Camaro version as the base.

Every inch, including the chassis, undergoes a transformation to match the unreal performance this modern Chevy Chevelle conceals. So, no. It’s not just a customized old Chevelle. The driving dynamics get a sharp upgrade with an enhanced sway bar package. It also has a lowering spring package and the Michelin Cup 2R 335 section tires.

The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Looks Perfect On Every Angle

Now, you might think there’s a lot more the modern Camaro and the Chevelle 70/SS have in common, especially since Trans Am Worldwide has used the underpinnings of a modern Camaro for its Chevelle SS replica. But, no. The only stock components shared are the chassis and the front windshield. Everything else has been designed to evoke the essence of the famous 1970 Chevelle SS. The front fascia of the 70/SS has been bulked out in the style of the 1970s. The iconic chrome-laden front “SS” grille and the quad circular LED projector headlamp instantly take you back to the heyday of the 1970s Chevelle SS.

Custom carbon fiber panels grace the hood, fenders, doors, front and rear bumpers, quarter panels, and the deck lid to keep the weight in check. Trans Am Worldwide has introduced a bunch of ‘Heritage hues’ to the 70/SS’s personalization list, which are the nicest external upgrades. It comes in eight vintage colors, each with the option of twin stripes.

Adding a contemporary twist, there are 11 modern shades to amplify the modernized Chevelle SS. Bumpers can flaunt either painted or chrome finishes. Trans Am Worldwide offers sleek 20-inch Mach V or classic rally wheel choices, available with chrome or colored accents. Opt for the convertible version with a soft top or go for the optional removable hardtop for those desiring a solid roof. The stance, perfected by lowering springs, transforms this 2024 Chevelle SS into a drop-dead gorgeous classic muscle car revival.

The Chevelle 70/SS Interior Design Is Everything We Ever Wanted

Anyone who’s driven or been inside the recent Camaro will find the Chevelle’s cabin quite familiar. The interior of the new 70/SS Chevelle Super Sport sees minimal changes from the 2024 Camaro cabin.  However, Trans Am Worldwide (TAW) adds its special touch with custom interior trimmings. This creates a unique ambiance reminiscent of the classic 70s Chevelle. Step inside to find retro leather upholstery and headrests adorned with “70/SS” embroidery. The steering wheel boasts a custom design featuring an embedded “70/SS,” adding a personalized touch.

The instrument cluster undergoes a cool “70/SS” makeover, You’ll love the custom graphics.. Door panels receive custom inserts, while a retro loop carpet and “70/SS” aluminum sill plates contribute to the overall nostalgic look of the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS interior. All the technology and infotainment features seamlessly carry over from the sixth-gen Camaro. So, expect the best in terms of entertainment.

For enthusiasts seeking extra flair, the 70/SS interior includes two cool off-the-shelf custom elements: a Hurst Short Ratio shifter for manual-gearbox-equipped models and a Heritage Shifter for the automatic transmission models.

The 2024 Chevelle Has A $165,000 Price Tag

According to Trans Am Worldwide, the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS has a starting MSRP of $165,000. When we consider the numerous customization options, the prices can get quite high. The LS6/X-equipped 70/SS model, however, will be the most expensive, as it will be restricted to 25 units. It is easily worth more than $250,000. The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS is currently on sale
