2024 Nissan Qashqai e-Power Hybrid Lands in Australia

The Nissan Qashqai is among the most praised SUVs right now, thanks to its reliability, and peppy engines. Plus, it maintains a good balance of safety technology, spacious passenger and cargo capacity, as well as fuel-efficiency, making it an excellent family SUV. Over the last couple of years, the Nissan Qashqai has soared to greater heights, gaining more power, style, and versatility. It’s like the Swiss army of SUVs, albeit without a corkscrew for those unexpected off-road wine tastings. Now, the 2024 Nissan Qashqai e-Power Hybrid Lands in Australia. Yes. a hybrid Qashqai powertrain on Australian soil.

Nissan Australia recently announced that the market will soon receive a new hybrid-powered Qashqai variant. Carrying the fresh e-Power technology, the new Nissan Qashqai will enter the market in the first quarter of 2024. According to Nissan, the new hybrid technology will combine a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with a 188-horsepower electric motor. It will also come with a one-pedal driving mode. This new technology sets a new path for the beloved family SUV. The updated Qashqai is the family SUV with a twist, or in this case, a jolt of electricity.

In this article, we will discuss everything we know so far about the hybrid-powered 2024 Nissan Qashqai in Australia.

The 2024 Nissan Qashqai Sports new Hybrid “e-Power” Technology

It will be fascinating to see the Australian 2024 Nissan Qashqai rocking hybrid technology. Before this, every Nissan Qashqai model had a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine made 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Well, this engine will remain on other Qashqai trims. The hybrid Qashqai models will not replace the ICE siblings but are joining the lineup.

So, like in previous models, the 1.3-liter four-cylinder is still available in the 2024 Nissan Qashqai lineup. However, the Qashqai Ti model can be ordered with the hybrid powertrain.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Nissan’s e-Power powertrain. If you recall, we saw the UK version of the Nissan Qashqai e-Power Kuro Edition a little under four months ago.

The e-Power Hybrid Powertrain Specs

On the Australian market, the Qashqai’s e-Power Hybrid powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that makes 156 horsepower with an electric motor that churns out 188 horsepower, along with an inverter and a power generator. The result is a combined peak power of 344 horsepower.

The best part about the 2024 Nissan Qashqai’s engine is that it has advanced variable compression functionality — a feature pioneered by Infiniti. Thanks to this tech, drivers can adjust the engine’s compression ratio on the go, giving you a greater performance, efficiency, or the best of both worlds.

As mentioned, the Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power also introduces a near one-pedal driving mode called e-Pedal Step. A simple button press activates the e-Pedal Step, which delivers regenerative braking forces of up to 0.2g. There is, of course, one downside: while the new technology can slow the SUV down, it won’t bring it to a complete stop. However, when compared to most SUVs, this technology is a milestone.

The Australian Hybrid-powered 2024 Nissan Qashqai Ti Is a Bargain SUV

Online reservations for the 2024 Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power open on November 2, 2023, according to Nissan Australia.

“We know Australians love the driving dynamics of the X-Trail e-POWER, and we are thrilled to offer this innovative technology on a second model, expanding its potential further,” said Adam Paterson, Nissan Australia Managing Director.

“Whether you’re in the city, further afield, or travel frequently between both, the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER provides a smooth, exciting, drive without ever having to stop to recharge.” Paterson continued.

The 2024 Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power’s price starts at AU$ 51,590 (or about $32,531). This price represents a $4,560 ($2,875) premium over the mainstream Qashqai Ti.
