Isuzu D-Max EV 2026: Electric Pickup With 188 HP and 163-Mile Range

The 2026 Isuzu D-Max EV production began for Europe. Deliveries of this electric pickup truck will begin in early 2026, and UK pre-sales are already open. Priced from £59,995 ($80,800), the electric pickup replaces diesel emissions with a dual-motor 4WD setup that produces 188 hp and uses a 66.9 kWh battery for a WLTP range of 163 miles (263 km). 

While it may be the electric version, this truck keeps the D-Max’s work credentials intact, mainly the 1,000 kg payload and 3.5-tonne towing. This makes the electric Isuzu D-Max EV perfect for commercial/trade purposes. 

Isuzu D-Max EV Design and Features

The 2026 electric D-Max closely mirrors its diesel counterpart in appearance. It keeps the familiar, rugged profile that buyers expect. Unlike the concept shown last year, the production version skips a closed-off grille. Instead, the design of the D-Max EV opts for subtle EV-specific touches such as blue accents, badging, and the absence of exhaust pipes. The charging port replaces the traditional fuel filler cap, keeping the user experience familiar. 

Buyers will be able to choose between eDL40 and eV-Cross high-spec trims, available in Extended Cab or Double Cab configurations. Standard color options include Splash White. It also comes with premium colors, such as Mercury Silver Metallic, Obsidian Grey Mica, Onyx Black Mica, and Biarritz Blue Metallic. The flagship V-Cross trim gets an exclusive Dolomite White Pearl. For its debut, Isuzu showcased the EV in a striking Norwegian Blue paint job paired with black detailing and matching 18-inch alloys.

Powertrain and Performance

The Isuzu D-Max EV is powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined 188 hp (140 kW) and 325 Nm (240 lb-ft) of torque. Notably, it offers 27 hp more than the diesel model but slightly less torque. Power goes to all four wheels through a full-time 4WD system. The electric truck also retains the diesel’s Rough Terrain Mode for challenging conditions. 

The electric 2025 D-Max can accelerate from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 10.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of just over 80 mph (129 km/h). As mentioned, it maintains a payload capacity of over 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) and a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes (7,716 lbs), matching diesel rivals. Off-road credentials remain strong with a 600 mm (23.6-inch) wading depth and 210 mm (8.3-inch) ground clearance.

The 2026 D-Max EV is equipped with a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 263 km (163 miles). While modest compared to smaller EVs, the figure aligns with expectations for a midsize pickup. The D-Max supports fast charging at up to 50 kW DC. This enables a 20-80% recharge in around one hour. Isuzu backs the battery with an 8-year or 100,000-mile (160,900 km) warranty. 

Underneath, the 2025 EV rides on a modified version of the standard D-Max’s ladder frame chassis. Its package also includes a De-Dion rear suspension replacing traditional leaf springs for improved ride comfort.

Electric Isuzu D-Max Pricing And Availability

The Isuzu D-Max EV made its global debut at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham on April 29. UK pre-orders opened on July 21, with first deliveries expected in February 2026. 

Pricing for the Isuzu D-Max EV starts at £59,995 ($80,800) before VAT. This means the EV version costs more than the diesel D-Max, which starts at £27,755 ($37,400). When comparing matching trims, the EV variants are approximately £24,240 ($32,700) more expensive than their diesel equivalents.

Interestingly, even the heavily modified AT35 model by Arctic Trucks, the extreme off-roader, costs less than the electric D-Max.
