The 2025 Nissan Patrol Has A New Twin-Turbo V6 Powertrain

Nissan unveiled the next-generation 2025 Patrol on September 4, with an exciting teaser campaign. This latest iteration of the iconic Patrol SUV will replace its traditional V8 engine with a more efficient and powerful twin-turbo V6. Alongside the Patrol, a related version known as the Armada will launch in the U.S. market. However, how much of the design the two vehicles will share remains to be seen.

For the 2025 Patrol, the new 450-hp engine will pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

New Twin-Turbo V6 Replaces The V8 Engine

One of the biggest changes of the 2025 Nissan Patrol is under the hood. Nissan confirmed that the V8 engine will be replaced by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. This is the same engine in the Infiniti QX80.

Despite having fewer cylinders, the 2025 Nissan Patrol twin-turbo engine will surpass the V8 in performance, acceleration, and power delivery. In the Infiniti, this twin-turbo V6 engine delivers 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

2025 Nissan Patrol Design Details

Aimed at the new Toyota Land Cruiser, the 2025 Nissan Patrol will top the charts in design and performance. The teaser images show familiar proportions but with distinct updates. According to the teaser images, the new 2025 Patrol has a newly designed grille, taillights, 22-inch alloy wheels, and a twin-turbo V6 engine.

Built on the same ladder-frame platform as its luxury sibling, the Infiniti QX80, the 2025 Nissan Patrol will feature unique design elements on both the front and rear. At the front, the Patrol SUV has a “V-motion” grille and sports chrome slats with a honeycomb pattern. This front engine design makes it stand out from the Infiniti QX80 and Nissan Armada siblings. At the rear, the 2025 Nissan Patrol has vertically stacked taillights connected by horizontal LED bars running across the back of the vehicle.

2025 Patrol Market Stand

The 2025 model will reinvigorate the Micra producer’s standing in the large SUV market. With the new design, new twin-turbo V6 engine, and possibly new technology, the Patrol will rival the Toyota Land Cruiser J300.

The current-generation Nissan Patrol, known as the Y62, has been on the market since 2010. Since its release, the Y62 Patrol SUV underwent facelifts in 2014 and 2019.

Nissan’s Global Head of Product Strategy, Ivan Espinosa, stated that the new 2025 Patrol would be “much better” than the Land Cruiser. This is a bold claim supported by benchmarking tests that have taken place alongside camouflaged prototypes.
