A Detailed Look At The New 2025 Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Wagon

The 2025 Audi A6 Avant E-Tron is an electrified wagon we never knew we needed. With the entire industry shifting towards electrification, either in a hybrid form or fully electric, Audi is going all in with its popular wagon styling. According to the brand, the 2025 Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Wagon features a stylish exterior design, a roomy five-seat interior, and a good set of safety and performance-enhancing technology. Other A6 Avant E-Tron highlights include rapid DC fast charging capabilities, reaching up to 270kW, and the VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. The next Audi A6 Avant e-tron was spotted testing on public roads. There’s so much anticipation around the new electric station wagon. Expect the A6 Avant E-Tron wagon to arrive on the market later in 2024 as a 2025 model-year station wagon.

This post dives into the A6 Avant E-Tron specs, design, performance, and release date.

Overview Of The Audi A6 Avant E-Tron

Before the giant trucks and SUVs became the paylay of the automotive industry, the German brand, Audi, was synonymous with sedans and wagons. The Audi Wagons were outstanding, with their well-crafted aesthetics and all-wheel drive configurations. On top of that, they offer practicality and versatility, allowing them to surpass competitors. Now, putting aside the surging popularity of crossovers, another factor is the ongoing shift towards electrification. Where does this leave the wagon body style? Will it continue into the post-internal combustion era? Now the New Electric Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Wagon is the answer we’ve been waiting for.

Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Exterior design

The new production A6 Avant closely resembles the A6 Avant e-Tron Concept. The journey from concept to production stands out compared to other concept cars that often lose their essence in the production process. When spotted for the second time, it showed a little more skin, giving us a sneak peek into its design.

At the front of the A6 Avant E-Tron, Audi replaces the distinctive ‘Singleframe’ grille with an enclosed panel. It covers the entire front area, giving the Avant E-Tron a futuristic appeal. Accompanying this enclosed grille are two angular battery cooling intakes. Flanking this are split digital matrix LED headlights, where the main units are positioned lower, while the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) sit above.

The dynamic side view maintains the seamless transitions between convex and concave surfaces, featuring a sharply raked D-pillar that gives it a hatch-like appearance than a typical wagon. Unfortunately, the windows are no longer frameless. The digital door mirrors are most likely an optional feature rather than standard. Muscular haunches, rear diffuser outlets, and a full-width OLED light cluster contribute to an overall grounded and assertive stance.

2025 A6 Avant E-Tron Interior Design, Space And Comfort

We haven’t had a chance to test drive and try out the Avant E-Tron ourselves. But, we know that the new Avant E-Tron wagon is roughly equivalent to the current A6/A7 lineup in size. That places the 2025 Audi A6 Avant’s dimensions at somewhere around a length of 4969 mm, a height of 1423 mm, and a width of 1908 mm. With those dimensions in mind, get ready to experience an expansive cabin and cargo area. In terms of seating capacity, the A6 e-tron Avant boasts a roomy five-seat interior with a level floor. The A6 Avant’s interior resembles its Q6 e-tron platform sibling.

Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Infotainment System

The most eye-catching part of the 2025 A6 Avant’s interior is the front cabin, which features a curved OLED 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster on the driver’s side, and a 14.5-inch infotainment system sitting in the center. The A6 Avant’s tech-filled interior also comes with a 10.9-inch front passenger display supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Talk about Electric wagon technology, huh? The Avant also has noteworthy features such as an Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display (HUD) and dynamic ambient lighting.

The 2025 Audi A6 Is Underpinned By The VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) Architecture

The 2025 A6 Avant e-tron is set to utilize the VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. If you recall, this PPE architecture also serves as the foundation for the upcoming Porsche Macan EV. Boasting an 800-volt architecture and a substantial 100 kWh battery pack, it promises an impressive WLTP range of 435 miles (700 km). Yes. that’s right. The 2025 Audi A6 Avant E-Tron wagon will have a 435-mile driving range. A range like that eliminates range anxiety or any concerns that come with road-tripping with an electric car. Moreover, the A6 Avant model will also come with rapid DC fast charging capabilities, reaching up to 270kW as we also mentioned in the introduction. The wagon will also come with adaptive damping and air suspension systems.

Avant E-Tron Powertrain And Performance

The new A6 Avant E-Tron will offer multiple powertrains. The menu starts with a base single motor variant and a mid-spec dual motor setup that cranks out 469 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The acceleration and speed capabilities are awesome. The dual-motor Avant E-Tron will go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than four seconds.

Buyers who are craving more acceleration and are up for a thrilling experience should pick the top-tier RS6 e-tron, which will have an 805 horsepower powertrain setup. While the base A6 Avant model is likely to be rear-drive, the mid-spec and RS6 variants will channel their power to the road through Quattro all-wheel-drive, ensuring optimal traction and performance.

How The 2025 A6 Avant Squares Up Against Its Competition

Wagons propelled solely by a full battery-electric system are rare, a trend we hope will soon change. But, look at it from Audi’s point of view: rare means no competition. In other words, the Audi A6 Avant is one of the first electrified wagons to dominate this space. We say “one of” because there’s another electric wagon on the horizon; BMW’s forthcoming i5 Touring. Other German brands, particularly Mercedes-Benz, haven’t yet joined the electric wagon space. Mercedes-Benz offers the EQE in an exclusive sedan form.

Performance-Oriented A6 Avant In The Mix Too

Audi officials have hinted at the possibility of higher-positioned versions, suggesting the potential for an Allroad edition, a more performance-focused RS variant, or perhaps even both.

Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Pricing and Release Date

As we mentioned earlier, the Audi A6 Avant was already spotted on public roads during its multiple testing phases. This tells us that the 2025 Avant E-Tron is currently in the advanced stages of development. As for the release, the 2025 Audi Avant E-Tron will arrive on the market in mid-2024 as a 2025 model-year electrified station wagon. Price-wise, expect the 2025 Audi A6 e-tron to have a starting MSRP of around $80,000. Depending on trim and options, the pricing may go up to $100,000.

Audi Gives A New Naming Scheme For Its Electrified Models

To wedge the gap between the electric and ICE models, Audi adopted a naming scheme. The brand assigned even numbers to electric models (A4, A6, Q4, Q6, etc.). It will then reserve odd numbers for the successors to existing ICE models (A3, A5, A7, etc.). So, the current gas-powered A6 will be known as the A7.
