The Electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max: What You Should Know

0

The electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max joins the BEV pickup game with its robust powertrain, advanced features, and the same iconic silhouette. Equipped with a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a full-time 4WD system with e-Axles, the 2025 Isuzu D-Max BEV delivers 174 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. Carrying on the ICE version’s legacy, this new electric pickup truck has a 7,716-pound towing limit and a 2,205-pound payload capacity. For the 2025 model year, the Isuzu D-Max competes with the new Toyota Hilux, the Ranger, and electric trucks like the F-150 Lightning.

With sales scheduled for 2025, the electric D-Max will debut in Europe before expanding to other regions.

Overview Of The 2025 Isuzu D-Max

Isuzu has always been known for its rugged and powerful vehicles. Some of the brand’s best-selling vehicle models right now are the S-CAB, the V-Cross, MU-X, S-CAB Z, and the Isuzu D-Max. The non-commercial D-Max alone sold 25,117 units in 2021 and 24,336 in 2022.

One of the most beloved years of the Isuzu D-Max is the 2023 model, which has a standard 9.0-inch multimedia display with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The brand also threw in an eight-speaker sound system and dual-zone air conditioning.

For the 2025 year, Isuzu will step into the electric future with the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of the Isuzu D-Max model. It’s nice to see Isuzu embracing the sustainable transportation movement with the D-Max electric pickup truck.

Isuzu unveiled the 2025 D-Max BEV on March 27 at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show, where it appeared alongside the D-Max prototype fitted with a mild-hybrid diesel.

Rugged Exterior Design

The electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max is one of the most stylish EV pickup trucks. Its design blends ruggedness with modern aesthetics. As a first model of its kind, this exceptional styling signals its entry into the era of electric mobility. Despite the new apparent exterior updates, the electric D-Max 2025 largely retains its iconic silhouette and muscular stance.

Unlike the turbodiesel versions, the electric variant introduces several distinctive design elements that set it apart on the road. At the front, the electric 2025 D-Max features a redesigned nose with a covered grille. Its exterior has blue accents that subtly hint at its electric nature. The rest of the dual-cab bodywork looks like the diesel-powered D-Max lineup.

In addition to its eye-catching design, the electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max has new six-spoke wheels that elevate its profile appearance. Despite its electrified nature, the electric D-Max remains true to its roots as a capable and versatile pickup truck.

174-HP Electric Powertrain

The electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This is one of the strongest and most reliable powerhouses, so expect the 2025 D-Max to deliver a good driving range and balanced performance. Attached to the electric D-Max’s 66.9 kWh battery is a full-time 4WD system with e-Axles in front and rear.

Like most electric pickup trucks, the 2025 D-Max’s powertrain comprises two motors, one in the front and another in the rear. While the front electric motor generates 53 horsepower and 108 Nm of torque, the rear motor produces 121 horsepower and 217 Nm of torque.

Combining the 53-hp and 121-hp from the front and rear motors, the 2025 Isuzu D-Max delivers a total power output of 174 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. This means the electric D-Max is more powerful than the ICE 1.9-liter model.

7,716-pound Towing Capacity

Despite its electrified powertrain, the electric D-Max retains the towing capabilities that the D-Max is known for. The 2025 Isuzu D-Max has a towing capacity of up to 7,716 pounds (3,500 kg). Even though this is a lesser tow capacity than the Rivian R1T’s 11,000 pounds, the 2025 D-Max can still handle lots of hauling tasks.

2,205-Pound Payload Capacity

The best feature of the electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max is the 2,200 payload capacity, which puts it ahead of most of its competition. It also inherited this from the turbodiesel variants.

The electric D-Max’s 2,205-pound payload capacity defeats the GMC Hummer EV’s 1,300-pound and the Rivian R1T’s 1,764-pound payload capacities. The 2025 Isuzu D-Max EV’s 2,205-pound payload puts the electric pickup truck ahead of the Ford F-150 Lighting, which is limited to 2,000 pounds.

Good Top Speed

According to Isuzu, the electric 2025 D-Max has a top speed exceeding 81 mph (130 km/h). The brand designed the D-Max BEV to be efficient without sacrificing performance. Thanks to its responsive motors and top speed, D-Max BEV users will have a great highway driving experience.

Comfortable Interior

The electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max comes with a simplistic, yet tech-filled interior. The D-Max’s cabin uses high-quality materials, which are complemented by premium finishes. Both front and rear occupants get lots of headroom and legroom for comfortable journeys.

Intuitive Infotainment System

One of the most eye-catching features is the D-Max’s infotainment system, which comes with intuitive controls. Like the predecessor, the 2025 Isuzu D-Max’s infotainment system comes standard with navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Expect at least 2+ USB ports and a good sound system.

On top of that, the 2025 D-Max electric pickup truck offers advanced safety and driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

Market Launch Plans and Availability

Isuzu outlined a strategic rollout strategy that distributes the electric D-Max in key markets around the world promptly.

However, Europe will be among the first regions to welcome the electric D-Max, with market availability scheduled for 2025.

With its recent launch, expect the Isuzu D-Max BEV to begin sales in mid-2025. The UK, Australia, Thailand, and other countries will also see the rollout of the electric D-Max.

Electric 2025 Isuzu D-Max Price Tag

While details of the pricing haven’t been disclosed yet, expect the price of the Electric Isuzu D-Max to start at around $48,000.

At the time of this writing, the D-Max BEV’s market launch is still months away. We’re still in the dark on the BEV’s eMPG efficiency, driving range, and acceleration time.

A Mild Hybrid Diesel In The Works

Aside from the electric Isuzu D-Max, the brand also previewed the D-Max Hi-Lander MHEV prototype. Unlike the D-Max BEV, the Hi-Lander MHEV version features a mildly electrified version of the 1.9-liter turbodiesel with 48V technology.

This way, Isuzu competes with the Toyota Hilux, which recently received a mild-hybrid powertrain, with a similar 48V technology. Isuzu also positions itself in the ring with the new Ford Ranger, which gained a plug-in hybrid version.
