A Detailed Look At The 2025 Volkswagen Tayron; America’s Tiguan

0

Volkswagen recently shared insights into the upcoming 2025 Volkswagen Tayron, with some changes across the VW SUV lineup. Based on the MQB EVO platform, the new 2025 VW Tayron has a distinctive design, featuring a lengthier rear overhang and an upright tailgate. Closely related to the 2025 Tiguan, the new-generation Tayron will have a similar interior design, with a 15-inch infotainment screen and smartphone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Expected powertrains include a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine as the primary option, with an enticing plug-in hybrid alternative. Accompanied by an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the new 2025 Tiguan/Tayron will deliver a heightened performance experience.

As Volkswagen tries to meet the needs of its home, East, and West markets, the brand’s global lineup is like a changing holographic image. A prime example is the brand’s 2025 SUV models. The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is heading to America as the VW Tayron. Meanwhile, this Seven-seater 2025 Tayron SUV simultaneously serves as the second-generation Tayron in specific regions. It’s the first-generation Tayron in Europe, the second-generation Tayron in China, the upgraded Tayron, and the third-generation 2025 VW Tiguan in America.

The 2025 Volkswagen Tayron Redesign Slots Between The Tiguan And The Atlas

The redesigned 2025 Volkswagen Tayron was recently spotted driving on the streets, showing off its new exterior features. There’s a lot we’ve noticed from the 2025 Tayron. Yes, the upcoming Tayron model is a compact crossover with seven seats.

The highlight of the 2025 VW Tayron is that the SUV is longer than the European 2023 Tiguan but shorter than the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas. With a maximum seating arrangement of seven, the 2025 VW Tayron is one of the best family-size SUVs. Aside from the redesign rant, we’ve also received some other VW Tiguan updates. In Europe, Volkswagen won’t use the name Tiguan Allspace anymore. Instead, the brand adopted a name already used in China to make a clear difference from the shorter five-seat vehicle: Tayron.

This dual identity showcases Volkswagen’s adaptability to different market demands and preferences. Meanwhile, the new 2025 Tiguan features a completely overhauled interior and appearance.

A Long Wheelbase 2025 Tayron On The Horizon

Aside from unveiling the new 2025 Tayron, Volkswagen plans to launch an extended version of the latest Tiguan in Europe in China, named Tiguan L.

VW’s SUV strategy mirrors its approach with the Passat and the Magotan, two sedans of similar size, and the ID.7 and ID.7 S electric sedans, offered through various joint ventures in China.

The 2025 Volkswagen Tayron will increase in size, allowing it to compete with well-known seven-seat competitors like the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, the upcoming Mazda CX-80, and the related Skoda Kodiaq. To give you an idea, the new Kodiaq has dimensions of 4758mm in length (+24mm compared to the Tiguan Allspace), 1864mm in width (+25mm), and 1657mm in height (-8mm), featuring an unchanged 2791mm wheelbase.

2025 Volkswagen Tayron Interior Design

The 2025 Volkswagen Tayron’s interior will closely resemble the 2025 Tiguan. The 2025 VW Tayron will have a 15-inch infotainment screen, an advanced windscreen-projection head-up display, a rotary controller for adjusting vehicle functions, and a new digital driver display with an anti-reflective coating.

While the outside receives an overhaul, VW is changing the 2025 Tayron’s steering wheel features. The new steering wheel moves away from touch-sensitive controls and embraces physical buttons. We also learned that the 2025 Volkswagen Tayron will have a Mercedes-style column-mounted gear selector.

The American 2025 Tiguan Is Different From The European Version

The brand aims to give each model its unique identity in the lineup. To distinguish China’s new Tayron and North America’s 2025 Tiguan from the recently released 2024 Tiguan and Tiguan L, VW chose a somewhat boxier appearance for the next-generation Tayron. This Tayron’s design features a longer rear overhang and a more upright tailgate.

2025 Tayron/Tiguan Engine Options

The 2025 Tiguan/Tayron will utilize the MQB Evo platform, which underpins the Audi A3 and the GTI hatchback. While we know the platform, certain Tayron specifications are a mystery. European customers will have access to a powertrain selection similar to the smaller 2025 Tiguan. And you know what this means. The 2025 Tayron powertrain lineup will offer two PHEVs, diesel options, and 1.5-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid gasoline engines.

The next-generation 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan will have a hybrid powertrain. VW claims that the next-generation Tiguan will include a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of traveling up to 62 miles in electric mode.

We envision a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine for the 2025 Tiguan/Tayron, complemented by an optional, more potent plug-in hybrid alternative. The turbocharged engine is likely to pair with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

In its previous iteration, the last-generation Tiguan featured an 184-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, delivering 221 pound-feet of torque. Standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive characterized its configuration. The 2025 VW Tiguan/ Tayron will have a more robust performance, particularly in highway passing capability.

2025 Volkswagen Tayron Pricing And Release Date

The 2025 Tiguan and Tayron Release dates aren’t known. However, Volkswagen said the 2025 Tiguan and Tayron will be on American roads as 2025 model-year cars. This suggests that the 2025 Tiguan/Tayron will debut sometime in 2024. Expect the pricing of the 2025 Tiguan to start around $31,000.
