The 2024 Vauxhall Corsa is among the most popular choices in the compact car segment. Coming from a brand that offers the most affordable and reliable cars, the new Corsa is among the latest and best compact cars. For the 2024 model year, the Opel Corsa brings new standard technology features, like rear sensors, front sensors, and cameras. The 2024 Vauxhall Corsa offers non-hybrid, hybrids, and all-electric models too, opening it up to a wide range of buyers. But is the 2024 Open Corsa as good to drive as the Seat Ibiza or as versatile as the VW Polo? Let’s dive into this 2024 Vauxhall Corsa review to find out more.

I had a chance to drive the 2024 Corsa with an entry-level 1.2 Petrol 75PS powertrain. This model kicks out around 74bhp and achieves a 0-62mph time of 13.2 seconds. On the road, the 2024 Vauxhall Corsa drives well, while it might feel a bit underwhelming when compared to its competitors. It has excellent interior features and comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which I got the chance to try out myself. Keep scrolling through my 2024 Vauxhall Corsa review to find out what I feel about the compact car’s design, specifications, features, and more.

Overview Of The 2024 Corsa

Why is the Vauxhall Opel Corsa so popular? The Vauxhall brand perfected the art of offering various engine and trim choices to fit most budgets.

Aside from the gasoline and hybrid models, Vauxhall offers an all-electric Opel Corsa version for those seeking an eco-friendly option.

Despite sharing similarities with the Peugeot 208, the 2024 Opel Corsa stands out with its unique steering, suspension calibration, and distinct interior and exterior design.

What’s New for the 2024 Vauxhall Corsa?

A recent update makes the Corsa even more appealing. For 2024, the Corsa has new exterior styling and additional standard equipment.

Engine Options

Every regular (non-hybrid) Vauxhall Opel Corsa comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, available in three power outputs: 74bhp, 99bhp, and 128bhp.

How does the 1.2 Petrol 75PS perform? The entry-level 1.2 Petrol 75PS, with 74bhp and a 0-62mph time of 13.2 seconds, feels sluggish, especially for motorway driving.

We recommend the mid-range 1.2 Turbo Petrol 100PS, which offers a more balanced performance. With 99bhp, it handles motorway journeys well, sprinting from 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds (10.8 seconds with an automatic gearbox), outperforming the VW Polo 1.0 TSI 95.

Hybrid Models

The hybrid Opel Corsa models come in two power outputs:99bhp and 134bhp. Unlike the pure ICEs, the hybrid Corsa features a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a six-speed auto gearbox.

The Hybrid 1.2 100PS feels punchy enough but isn’t significantly faster than the non-hybrid 1.2 Turbo Petrol 100PS. The hybrid 2024 Corsa’s 0-62mph time is only 0.1 seconds quicker than the non-hybrids.

Suspension and Ride Quality

The new Corsa handles big bumps surprisingly well. However, the compact car struggles with smaller road surface imperfections.

This is more noticeable in trims with 17-inch alloy wheels, as opposed to the 16-inch ones in the entry-level Yes trim.

Despite improvements at higher speeds, the 2024 Opel Corsa’s ride never quite settles down like the best small cars, such as the Audi A1, VW Polo, or Peugeot 208.

Handling

Behind the wheel, the 2024 Corsa offers good levels of grip. However, the hatchback isn’t particularly dynamic. On the road, the Vauxhall Corsa exhibits more body lean than the Hyundai i20 or the Seat Ibiza, a much closer rival.

The 2024 Corsa has a light steering, which is great for parking. However, the steering feels overwhelmingly vague at higher speeds. I barely noticed it at low speeds. The GS and Ultimate trims of the 2024 Opel Corsa lineup add a Sport mode that gives the steering extra weight.

Noise and Vibration

There’s noticeable wind and road noise at motorway speeds inside the 2024 Corsa. The engine in the non-hybrid version is particularly noisier compared to other small cars like the Volkswagen Polo.

The Sport mode in GS and Ultimate trims of the 2024 Corsa lineup changes the exhaust note but can sound artificial.

As mentioned earlier, the 2024 Vauxhall Corsa offers a six-speed manual gearbox. Working with the hybrid models, the six-speed transmission offers a decent experience. The clutch biting point is vague, making smooth pull-aways tricky. On the bright side, the Corsa has a manual transmission, which means it makes the Corsa much more engaging to drive, no matter the road.

Driving Position and Dashboard

The 2024 Opel Vauxhall Corsa offers good adjustment options for the steering wheel and driver’s seat. Yes. the Corsa has a comfortable driving position. However, adjustable lumbar support and a massage function are only available in the top Ultimate trim.

Visibility in the Corsa compact car isn’t as good as in the Volkswagen Polo due to thicker front and rear pillars. To make up for this visibility issue, the Corsa comes standard with parking aids like rear sensors, front sensors, and cameras.

Sat Nav and Infotainment

Every non-electric 2024 Corsa comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system comes standard with features like DAB radio, Bluetooth, and USB sockets.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard, though built-in sat-nav is only available in the top-spec Ultimate trim.

The Corsa’s infotainment system is responsive but can be fiddly compared to those in the Seat Ibiza and VW Polo.

Interior Quality

The 2024 Corsa has a straightforward interior design, with decent material quality. However, the buttons, switches, and dials feel less premium compared to the Polo. The interior of the Corsa lacks the stimulating design of the Peugeot 208.

Cabin And Cargo Space

Despite its compact nature, the 2024 Vauxhall Corsa has a spacious interior with generous head and legroom. Tall drivers will find plenty of space up front. However, the car’s width and the angle of the front pillars make it feel less airy than rivals like the Seat Ibiza, Skoda Fabia, and VW Polo.

The rear seats split and fold 60/40 as standard. But the seats still lack the versatility of models like the Honda Jazz (or Honda Fit, if you’re on the other side of the world). The 2024 Corsa’s boot space is adequate for the class, offering more room than the Ford Fiesta. Access is easy, but there’s no height-adjustable boot floor.

Verdict

The 2024 Vauxhall Corsa is a well-equipped, reasonably priced small car that meets the needs of a variety of drivers. Sure, the Corsa doesn’t excel in many categories. For starters, it offers a smaller cargo and cabin space than its competitors. Also, it feels slightly underpowered when compared to the Polo. And the drive quality, while good, is a bit mediocre when compared to its competition. In my 2024 Vauxhall Corsa review, I found out that the car offers a balanced package of performance, comfort, and practicality. Despite the setbacks, the 2024 Corsa offers petrol and hybrid engine options that provide flexibility, and the recent updates ensure it remains competitive in the small car market.

Anyone in need of a reliable family car or a compact vehicle should consider the 2024 Vauxhall Corsa. Its affordable price tag and wide range of trims and features make it a great choice in the compact car market.
