20 Best Features Of The 2024 Audi Q8 Plug-In Hybrid

Six months after Audi’s Coupe-SUV facelift, the 2024 hybrid version of the Q8 entered the market. In an era where popular 2024 SUVs are evolving with electrified powertrains, the arrival of the 2024 Audi Q8 transformed the hybrid SUV game. It’s good that Audi is part of the brands pushing for low emissions and fuel efficiency in vehicles otherwise known for their gas-guzzling abilities. For 2024, the Audi Q8 TFSI runs with the same hybrid system used on the Audi Q7. The 2024 Q8’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 3.0-liter V-6 and a Lithium Ion battery, producing 335 horsepower. Pricing of the Q8 2024 hybrid SUV ranges from $92,000 to $99,700. This article discusses the best features of the 2024 Audi Q8, and why it makes a competing SUV.

Highlights of the 2024 Q8 include the 335 hp hybrid powertrain, the new 25.9kWh battery, the 5-star NHTSA overall rating, Rear-wheel steering, and electromechanical active roll stabilization features. In addition to receiving the Q7’s powertrain, the 2024 Q8 has additional chassis tweaks and improved tech features. We will be looking at these and more, as we talk about the reasons why you should buy the 2024 Q8.

Here are the coolest features of the 2024 Q8

Peppy Hybrid Powertrain

The 2024 Q8 TFSI Plug-In Hybrid uses the same powertrain as the Q7: 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, the new 25.9 kWh battery, and an electric motor with 174bhp and 460Nm of torque.

Thanks to the 335-hp V6 and 174-hp electric motor, the 2024 Q8 generates an output of 388 horsepower at 5000 rpm horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque at 1,370 RPM.

It’s worth noting that the 2024 Q8 has the same plug-in hybrid powertrain system as the Volkswagen Touareg R eHybrid.

New Energy Recovery Feature

For 2024, Audi introduces a new energy recovery feature in the plug-in hybrid Q7 and Q8 models.

Audi says the energy recovery feature allows the battery to recharge while driving, leveraging regenerative braking technology. Operating at speeds over 40 mph and in the ‘charge’ driving mode, it efficiently recovers energy through braking. However, to preserve battery longevity, this recovery function is disabled when the battery reaches 75% charge or higher.

48-Volt Hybrid System Assist

As with many new cars, including the 2024 Hilux, the 2024 Q8 has a 48-volt hybrid-assist system, which assists in start and stop functions, increasing the Plug-In hybrid SUV’s fuel efficiency.

5-Star Safety Ratings

One of the best features of the 2024 Audi Q8 is the 5-star safety rating. Safety is among Audi’s top priorities, especially for the latest Q8. In 2023, the Audi Q8 received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Industry for Highway Safety (IIHS).

While the IIHS hasn’t tested the newest Q8 yet, you can expect the 2024 Audi Q8 to have a 5-star safety rating like its predecessor. But there’s a good rating we know about.

The 2024 Audi Q8 received a top 5-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Swift 8-Speed Auto

Equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the 2024 Audi Q8 delivers smooth and responsive gear shifts.

Quattro All-Wheel Drive

The 2024 Audi Q8 delivers enhanced traction and stability, thanks to the Quattro all-wheel drive. With the AWD, drivers will experience confident handling in various road conditions.

Impressive Acceleration and Speed

The 2024 Audi Q8 can go from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds, matching the Q7 PHEV, which is a remarkable acceleration for a hybrid SUV.

To top that off, the 2024 Q8 boasts a top speed of 149mph, ensuring thrilling performance on the road.

Bigger 25.9 kWh Battery In The Audi Q8 2024

The 2024 Audi Q8 boasts a larger 25.9 kWh battery, replacing the previous model’s 17.3 kWh unit. This new 25.9 kWh battery is located under the boot floor.

Thanks to its higher energy density, the Q8’s battery doesn’t compromise the 505-litre boot capacity of the previous PHEV.

51-Mile Driving Range Of Electric-Only Power

The upgraded 25.9 kWh battery in the Audi Q8 PHEV significantly enhances its electric-only driving range to 51 miles, compared to 28 miles in the previous model.

This improved battery allows the 2024 Q8 to operate solely on electric power at speeds up to 84 mph. This way, users get a more versatile and eco-friendly driving experience.

Quick Battery Charging Speed

The 2024 Audi Q8 PHEV boasts a fast battery charging speed with a maximum charge rate of 7.4 kW.

This allows the Q8’s 25.9 kWh battery to recharge from 0 to 100 percent in three hours and 45 minutes. The quick charging speed makes the 2024 Q8 PHEV perfect for road trips.

Rear Wheel Steering Feature

The 2024 Audi Q8 PHEV introduces a rear-wheel steering feature, which enhances maneuverability and stability.

With the new rear steering feature, the 2024 Q8’s rear wheels can turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels. This reduces the turning radius by one meter for easier navigation in tight spaces.

During fast corners, the rear wheels angle in the same direction as the front wheels to improve stability and handling.

ElectroMechanical Active Roll Stabilization

Aside from the rear wheel steering, the Q8 PHEV features the new  Electromechanical Active Roll Stabilization feature.

According to Audi, the Q8’s new electromechanical active roll stabilization system uses electric motors to minimize body roll. The minimized roll enhances stability, especially on tough terrains.

This advanced system ensures a smoother, more controlled ride.

Stylish Exterior Redesign

The 2024 Audi Q8 undergoes a subtle yet striking exterior update, including refined front and rear fascias.

Standard with high-intensity Matrix-design LED headlights, the 2024 Q8 looks bold on the road.

The Q8 2024 has new distinctive digital daytime running lights, positioned along the upper horizontal edge. These integrate with the Singleframe grille, giving the Q8 a powerful presence.

2024 Audi Q8 Fuel Efficiency

With a 3.0L turbo V6 engine, the 2024 Q8 has an impressive fuel efficiency.

The 2024 Q8’s fuel economy is rated at 13.6 L/100 km in the city and 10.4 L/100 km on the highway

This results in an estimated annual fuel cost of $4,114 for the 2024 Audi Q8 crossover SUV owners.

Similar to the Q6, which has an all-electric model, the Audi Q8 also comes with a pure electric mode.

2024 Audi Q8 Is Reliable

According to Consumer Reports, the 2024 Q8 balances dynamic coupe-like styling and functionality.

While its sleek design may compromise some practical aspects, it compensates with a quiet and luxurious interior. Despite the initial learning curve of the dual-touch-screen control interface, it’s manageable.

Consumer Reports says the 2024 Q8 will maintain “about average” reliability.

Luxurious Interior Design In The Audi Q8 2024

Audi didn’t overlook any details in the 2024 Audi Q8, especially the interior. For the 2024 model year, the Q8’s cabin has received significant enhancements, including new decorative inlays and seats with contrasting stitching.

These upgrades contribute to the luxurious ambiance of the 2024 Q8’s interior. It also elevates the overall driving experience to new heights of sophistication and comfort.

Infotainment System Features App Store

The 2024 Audi Q8’s infotainment system now includes an app store. This new feature allows the Audi Q8 passengers to download popular apps like Spotify and Amazon Music directly to the MMI head unit.

We’re guessing this app store will come with constant updates. And maybe some apps will come with premium options accessible via subscriptions as Hyundai does with its in-car subscription features.

As far as in-car entertainment features go, the Q8’s system provides easy access to favorite music and services.

Wide Dimensions And Passenger Volume In The 2024 Audi Q8

The 2024 Audi Q8 provides a spacious and comfortable environment for passengers. This 5-seat SUV features a wheelbase of 2,995 mm, a length of 4,986 mm, and a height of 1,705 mm.

Front-seat occupants enjoy 1,044 mm of headroom and 1,057 mm of legroom. The second-row passengers benefit from 981 mm of headroom and 1,021 mm of legroom.

The Audi Q8 55 TFSI e quattro, previously offered as the ’60’ variant in the pre-facelift model, is now exclusively available in ’55’ form for the 2024 model year.

Generous Cargo Space

The 2024 Audi Q8 offers impressive cargo space of 864 liters with all seats in place and up to 1,719 liters with the second row folded down.

This ample storage capacity makes the Q8 versatile and practical for both everyday use and longer trips

Good Towing Capacity

If you’re an adventurer, then you’ll probably need an SUV that will keep up with your hauling needs, especially if you plan on pulling trailers. You’ll be glad to know that the Audi Q8 has an incredible towing rating, compared to most SUVs this year.

Yes. The 2024 Audi Q8 has a towing capacity of up to 7,700 lb with optional trailer hitch. The tow rating is one of the reasons to buy the Q8 2024.

2024 Audi Q8 Has Reasonable Pricing

For the 2024 model year, the Audi Q8 comes in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. The starting price MSRP for the base 2024 Q8 model is $92,000. Thanks to its high tech and added features, the top Q8 technik trim is priced at $99,000. Unlike the base trim, buyers get features like Alcantara headliner, Four-wheel steering, night vision assistant, and Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system on the 2024 Technik model

In other markets, the Q8 2024 also comes in a top-spec Vorsprung, which will start at around $100,000. However, Audi hasn’t announced pricing for the Q8 plug-in hybrid.
