2023-audi-r8-coupe-v10-gt-rwd
AUDI

Audi’s R8 has held the supercar crown since its 2007 debut. Now, after about 15 years in the business, 2023 is the last dance. The 2023 Audi R8 is the last of the glorious naturally aspirated 10-cylinder-powered supercar. Audi is expected to introduce a special-edition model as a way of bidding farewell to the legendary Audi R8. While the brand recently unveiled updates for most of its 2023 models, it omitted the R8 (along with a few other models) from the announcement. Instead, Audi provided a vague assurance of releasing separate statements in the future.

There’s so much to love here, from its spacious cabin and good storage space to its spectacular tech features. Powering the 2023 Audi R8 is the 5.2-liter V-10 engine from Lamborghini’s Huracán, which makes a tire-shredding 562 horsepower.  Thanks to Audi’s signature Quattro AWD, the R8 delivers excellent performance, with a good grip, good handling, and strong brakes.

As you would expect from an exotic car, the acceleration is otherworldly. The Audi R8 can achieve a 60-mph sprint in a neck-snapping 3.0 seconds. It also has great steering, with quick responses and good feedback.

2.      2023 Porsche 718 Cayman: Starting At $64,850

Ah yes, the 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman! It’s the hard-top variant of the 718 Boxster convertible that comes in a two-seat coupe setup and a mid-mounted engine. While this description may sound ordinary, It isn’t.

The Cayman brings accessible and potent capabilities to the market. And, in the lower price range, the 718 Cayman serves as a relatively affordable option to own a new Porsche sports car. The current generation debuted in 2017. Despite possessing timeless qualities that cater to driving enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels – we’re talking about the new infotainment systems and smartphone compatibility features – the 718 Cayman still comes with a CD player.

Starting at $64,850, the base model may not boast an exceptionally lavish set of standard features, but we think it has everything it truly needs. However, it is when you get behind the wheel and experience the depth of engineering that you realize every penny spent on the 718 Cayman is acceptable.

3.      2023 AMG SL: Starting At $111,000

While the 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL-class may sport the looks of a racy sports car, it’s actually more of a grand touring vehicle with a fashion-forward wardrobe. Mercedes calls it the “SL Roadster”. Sure, the AMG SL is famous for its fantastic handling and comfort, but the real star of the show here is the thundering V-8 powertrain.

Starting at $111,000, the entry-level Mercedes AMG SL Roadster comes with the rear-wheel-drive SL43, powered by a 375-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While that’s enticing as is, things get really exciting when you move up to the SL55 and SL63 models. Complete with all-wheel drive and a significant boost in power from a twin-turbo V-8, the SL55 delivers 469 horsepower and the SL63 churns out a mind-blowing 577 horsepower for the SL63. In their review, TopSpeed admired the SL63’s engine sound, saying it’s less prone to popping and crackling during downshifts.

Inside the SL, you’ll find ample space for two adults and a wealth of luxurious and high-tech features. One of these tech features is the outstanding 11.9-inch infotainment display, which can be adjusted to ensure optimal visibility for the driver. While Mercedes-AMG refers to the SL as a roadster, it does feature two small rear seats. Legroom in the back is about as scarce as a celebrity dodging paparazzi. Plus, with the convertible up, headroom becomes a premium too. Still, you’ll be able to use this rear space for your tote bag or a quick shopping trip. So buckle up and embrace the SL’s witty charm.

4.      2023 Lexus LC500: Starting At $95,600

Driving a Lexus LC is an experience that never fails to leave us breathless. While the seductive exterior design ignites our senses, the luxurious interior pampers us with opulence and comfort. The Lexus LC500 is no ordinary car to get you from point A to B. It’s also a statement of style and sophistication.

Compared to other high-performance cars like the BMW M8 and the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Lexus LC is like a fine Japanese sake. Its delivery is smooth, refined, and satisfying. For the 2023 model year, there won’t be any major changes except for one cool addition – a new Cloudburst Gray exterior color option. This will replace the old Smokey Granite shade.

Just as soon as you get this baby on the road, you’ll appreciate the smooth ride and the sense of occasion that the Lexus LC provides. Powering the 2023 Lexus LC500 the same high-performance 5.0-liter V8 from its predecessor. Pairing with a quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, the Lexus LC500 churns out a heart-racing 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. With that much power, you’ll experience a symphony of internal-combustion rock n roll.

When it comes to the Lexus LC500, it’s not about being the fastest. It’s about enjoying the journey and savoring every moment, one mile at a time. That’s why Lexus also offers a hybrid powertrain for the LC500h. This version combines a 3.5-liter V-6, a pair of electric motors, a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to deliver an impressive 354 horsepower. Starting at $95, 600, the 2023 Lexus LC500 comes in five trim levels: the LC500 Coupe, Coupe Bespoke Build, LC500h Coupe, LC500 Coupe Bespoke Build, and the LC500 Convertible.

5.      2023 Jaguar F-Type: Starting At $79,175

Decades ago, Jaguar was the epitome of sleek sports cars and luxurious executive sedans. As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification and SUVs, Jaguar remains committed to its roots. And the 2023 Jaguar F-Type is the ultimate testament to that.

Introduced in 2014 and refreshed in 2021, the Jaguar F-Type has only gotten better with age. With the supercharged V8 engine now standard, Jaguar joins the supercar league. This move allows it to keep up with the ever-evolving demands of consumers. This year, Jaguar has made minor changes to equipment availability, keeping the F-Type up to date.

Under the hood, the Jaguar F-Type holds a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. Depending on the model, the engine makes 444 horsepower in the P450 or up to 575 horsepower in the Type R version. With that much power, the Jaguar F-Type R accelerates like a supercar. But the Type R costs 34475 more than the P450. Another feature that will blow you away is the 2023 Jaguar F-type’s cockpit. With its driver-centric design, you’ll feel in control. From the stitching to the luxurious faux-suede accents, every detail is carefully crafted to give you an unforgettable experience.

Behind the wheel, you’ll experience an engaging ride, with good steering and responsive brakes. While the F-Type handles curves and corners well, Edmunds said the car does get upset by some mid-corner bumps. In terms of fuel economy, the F-Type gets 16 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway or a combined EPA-Estimated 18 MPG. There’s absolutely no denying that the F-Type is an absolute stunner. It’s hands down one of the most gorgeous luxury sports cars on the market.

6.      2023 McLaren Artura: Starting At $237,500

McLaren is leading the charge towards a hybridized future of high performance with the brand’s latest masterpiece, the 2023 McLaren Artura supercar. This sculptural mid-engine two-seater is built on a brand new lightweight platform and boasts a twin-turbo V-6 engine paired with a battery-electric powertrain to create a plug-in-hybrid model – a first for the company.

With a combined output of 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, the Artura is a true powerhouse. This 2023 Artura accelerates from zero to 60 mph in a mere 2.6 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph. The bodywork is pure McLaren, featuring lightweight components to improve performance. This bodywork is complete with prominent air vents and scissor-style doors, bringing out a tasteful exterior design. CarandDriver gave the new Artura a 9.5 out of 10 rating, which proves the supercar’s performance.

But the 2023 McLaren Artura isn’t all about performance, though. The Artura also offers a more luxurious cabin than the 720S. Besides that, you’ll find several state-of-the-art convenience and driver-assistance features that’ll keep you satisfied – and justify the $237,500 starting price too.

7.      2023 Chevrolet Corvette: Starting At $65,895

CHEVROLET

Boasting supercar performance and an affordable price tag, the Chevrolet Corvette has always gleamed in the sports car world. And the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette is no different. This new version takes things to the next level with its mid-engine twist.

Powering the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine. Mounted just behind the passenger compartment, this engine catapults the Corvette into the realm of exotic machinery. The engine churns out up to 495 horsepower at 6,450 RPM and 465 foot-pounds of torque at 5,150 RPM. That’s enough power to propel the Stingray to 60mph in just 2.9 seconds, and a top Speed of 194 mph.

We particularly love the silhouette, which is more associated with European exotic cars. The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is already on the horizon and should arrive with the same performance benchmarks too.

8.      2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage: Starting At $146,986

Aston Martin

As we bid farewell to this decade, Aston Martin’s 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12, which made its debut in the DB11 coupe back in 2016, will be history. This is due to the stringent emissions and fuel consumption regulations. But there’s no need to fear. Before the engine slips through the cracks and becomes history, it powers the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage, turning Aston’s spirited entry-level sports car into an electrifying supercar.

With a whopping 690 horses and 555 lb-ft of torque lurking beneath its revamped hood, the 2023 V12 Vantage proudly claims the title of the mightiest Vantage ever crafted.

To put this into perspective, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage has 163 horsepower more than the 2022 Vantage F1 Edition, and a whopping 125 more horses than the V12 Vantage S, its gorgeous predecessor.

Not only is it the quickest, clocking a claimed 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is also the fastest in the current Vantage lineup, with a top speed of 200 mph.

But the Aston Martin V12 Vantage isn’t all about performance. Available in both coupe and convertible forms, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage sports a visually captivating figure.

9.      2023 Ford Mustang: Starting At $29,145

FORD

The Ford Mustang has been a symbol of American muscle for over 55 years, and it continues to evolve into a more sophisticated and powerful machine. Anticipating the arrival of the next-generation pony car, the 2023 Ford Mustang remains largely unchanged.

This 2023 Ford Mustang boasts a standard turbocharged inline-four EcoBoost engine. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, this engine makes 310 horsepower. While the Shelby GT500 with its 760-hp engine may be the wilder choice, the Mustang GT is another desirable option. This trim houses a strong V8 engine that delivers 450 horsepower. Unlike the more powerful Mustang, the GT is a more conventional and practical option.

Make no mistake here: The Mustang isn’t an ordinary muscle for enthusiasts. It’s a force to be reckoned with on the road. Anyone who appreciates power, style, and performance will find themselves drawn to the 2023 Ford Mustang.

If you want to save some cash at the pump without sacrificing that classic Mustang performance, opt for the turbocharged four-cylinder with the 10-speed automatic. This bad boy earns some impressive EPA ratings of 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Ford also offers an optional Sync 3 infotainment system with an uncluttered layout and user-friendly interface. The Mustang’s exceptional performance, coupled with its ample cargo capacity, renders it a remarkable daily driver.

10.  2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible Roadster: Starting At $29,215

With the MX-5 Miata, Mazda has spent over 30 years smashing the notion that you need to empty your bank account for a thrilling roadster. Since its debut in 2016, the latest iteration of this iconic two-door has consistently received regular updates to stay ahead of the curve.

Unlike most sports cars, the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata prioritizes driving pleasure over practicality or utility. This car lacks the latest tech features and significant comfort, with just two seats available. However, the Mazda MX-5 Miata delivers an exceptional driving experience, with its precise steering, agile handling, and rear-wheel-drive configuration. Powering the 2023 MX-5 is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four that develops 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

The Mazda Miata MX-5 also comes with a plethora of color options, including, Platinum Quartz Metallic, Jet Black Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, and Machine Gray Metallic. The MX-5 Miata comes in three trims: the Sport, which comes at $29,215; the Club version, which comes at $32,715; and the popular grand touring trim, which comes at $34, 215.

11.  2023 BMW Z4 $53,795

BMW

In the sports car market, the BMW Z4 has always stood out as a remarkable sports car because of the seamless balance it strikes between exhilarating driving dynamics and long-distance cruising. For the 2023 model year, the M Sport Package is now standard on the four-cylinder sDrive30i model. The package brings an aerodynamic body kit, M Sport Suspensions, and an M Sport Steering wheel. BMW also added three new colors to the palette: Thundernight Metallic, Portimao Blue Metallic, and Skyscraper Grey Metallic.

The BMW Z4 is a rear-wheel-drive two-seat roadster that is available in two trim levels: sDrive30i and M40i. Under the hood, the sDrive30i model carries a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes a good 255 horsepower. That’s enough to push the sDrive30i to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds. The M40i model, on the other hand, gets a turbocharged inline-six, which makes up to 384 horsepower. With that power, the M40i goes from a standstill to 60mph in a cool 3.8 seconds.

Thanks to its powertrains and technology features, the BMW Z4 goes up against the Chevrolet Corvette, the Porsche 718 Cayman, and the Toyota GR Supra. While the Z4’s handling may not match the razor-sharp precision of the Toyota Supra coupe, it more than compensates with its luxurious cabin and smooth ride quality. Because of its performance credentials, it might surprise you that the Z4 is also one of the most efficient sports cars you can find.

12.  2023 Toyota GR Supra: Starting At $45,735

Via: TOYOTA

While the familial connection between the Toyota GR Supra coupe and the BMW Z4 roadster may not be immediately apparent. But, when you take a closer look, you’ll see some subtle hints within the GR Supra’s interior. Besides that, the BMW Z4 and the GR Supra also have shared engineering that is noticeable when you take them on a drive. Regardless, Toyota went to great lengths to give the GR Supra unique styling, tuning, and features.

For the 2023 model year, the Toyota GR Supra lineup welcomes a new A91-MT limited-production model. This model debuted to mark the introduction of the six-speed manual transmission. Aside from a more engaging three-pedal drive, Toyota gave all 2023 GR Supras a fresh pair of shock absorbers to improve the ride and handling. The 3.0 variants, on the other hand, have a revised steering system.

The 2023 Toyota GR Supra comes with 2 powertrain options: the entry-level 255-hp turbocharged four-cylinder and the optional 382-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW inline-six. Both of these engines send power exclusively to the rear wheels.

13. 2023 Audi TT/TTS: Starting At $53,295

Via: AUDI

The Audi TT is one of the few sports cars that keep getting better with age – like fine wine. The Audi TT sports car is famous for its timeless design, exhilarating ride quality, and attention to detail. And the newest edition is no different. Enter the 2023 Audi TT.

The Audi TT and TTS are available in both coupe and convertible variants. The TT version features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that churns out 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. If that’s not enough, you can opt for the TTS variant, which delivers a more robust 288 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. With the TTS’s souped-up engine under the hood, the 2-seat sports car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about 4 seconds. This means it will stay behind the Porsche 718 Cayman, the Toyota GR Supra, and more.

Also, in terms of sheer performance, the Audi falls behind competing sports cars such as the Porsche 718 Cayman and Toyota Supra. While the Audi TT fails in performance, it makes up for that in fuel efficiency. According to the EPA, the Audi TT delivers 23 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

We also love the stylish minimalist cabins, which feature graceful, contemporary designs and premium materials. Despite the seemingly-compacted design, front occupants will experience greater comfort. While technically accommodating four passengers, the rear seat offers very limited space. So, we recommend utilizing this space for luggage and shopping bags.

14.  2023 Toyota GR86: Starting At $28,400

TOYOTA

The Toyota GR86 (or just 86) made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2011. When it finally hit the market the following year, it changed the game forever. The Toyota GR86 became the go-to option for anyone who needed a thrilling sports car at a fraction of the cost of European or American counterparts.

Through meticulous engineering, the Toyota GR86 evolved into a highly regarded sports car. This beast now has it all: a gorgeous outlook, a balanced chassis, responsive handling, and a powerful engine.

Last year, the brand added a new styling, along with a more powerful engine. For 2023, Toyota added a GR86 860- Special Edition model, which brings features such as the blatty cat-back performance exhaust with black chrome tips, matte-black 18-inch wheels, as well as GR86 Premium equipment with exclusive Solar Shift orange paint. Other than that, the 2023 Toyota 86 has minor changes.

Powering the Toyota 86 is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine that makes 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. In a standard configuration, this engine pairs with the GR86’s standard 6-speed manual. Those looking for automated shifting can choose the optional 6-speed automatic transmission. While the mainstream manual is better, MotorBiscuit says the automatic transmission is worth it too.

15.  2023 Dodge Challenger: Starting At $31,965

Via: DODGE

Like the Dodge Charger, the Challenger has some muscle. Both of these muscle cars have had an incredible run since their iteration. Now, the current generation of the Challenger, as well as its four-door counterpart, the Dodge Charger, is reaching its final destination. Both the Charger and Challenger models are slated for discontinuation after the 2023 model year. To commemorate their last hurrah, each 2023 Challenger will feature special commemorative plaques under the hood. Throughout the year, Dodge will release only around seven limited-edition, Last Call models.

The 2023 Dodge Challenger is available in about 14 trims, ranging from the base SXT to the mighty SRT Hellcat Redeye. The base powertrain is a 3.6-liter V6, which pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission to churn out 303 horsepower. Climbing up the power ladder, you’ll find two naturally aspirated choices: a 375-hp 5.7-liter and 485-hp 6.4-liter engine. Then there’s the top-of-the-line powerful supercharged Hellcat 6.2-liter V8 engine, which, depending on the chosen model, makes either 717, 797, or 807 horsepower.

In its grand finale, the Challenger continues to enchant muscle-car enthusiasts. It secures its spot as a last-of-a-breed collectible. The next iteration brings electrifying powertrains, quite literally shocking the competition!
