The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado highlights include the new ZR2 Bison Off-Road Trim and the 310 horsepower output in TurboMax Spec. Also, the Colorado comes with an affordable price tag and lots of well-rounded features. Here’s a comprehensive look at everything you should know about the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado Overview

Redesigned just last year, the Chevy Colorado now features the latest advancements in technology and design.

The new 2024 Colorado is only available in a four-door crew cab with a 5-foot bed configuration. Chevrolet offers the Colorado pickup truck in five trim levels: WT (Work Truck), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. Each of the Colorado’s trims comes with two-wheel and four-wheel drive options.

The truck has a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine available in two different outputs. A new addition for 2024 is the Bison Edition, a trim focused on off-road and overlanding capabilities.

What’s New In The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado?

For the 2024 model year, Chevrolet added a new ZR2 Bison Off-Road Trim to the 2024 Colorado lineup. As the ultimate off-road model, the ZR2 Bison Off-road trim adds features like beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch tires. The trim has enhanced off-road capabilities with collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles.

The new Colorado pickup is now available with two output levels for its turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine instead of three. There are also a few features across the lineup.

Other than the new ZR2 Bison Off-road trim and the engine options, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado pickup has minor feature changes.

Styling and Design

The latest Colorado combines tough looks with friendly usability. The 2024 Chevy Colorado’s exterior design is modern and eye-catching, featuring a bold, rugged look.

The 2024 Colorado has an awesome interior Layout, though heavy on hard plastics for durability. The pickup truck’s cabin is practical with easy-to-find controls, although the shift of some functions to the touchscreen might not please everyone.

Infotainment System and Technology

The 2024 Colorado boasts a well-thought-out interior packed with technology. Like most modern trucks, the Chevrolet Colorado has a large infotainment system that features Google’s Android software. The screen offers exceptional touch feedback and the menus are user-friendly, even when you’re driving. The 2024 Chevy Colorado’s infotainment system comes with voice recognition and Alexa integration. It also comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2024 Colorado has a fully digital instrument cluster panel, which looks great. To top it off, the instrument panel is fully customizable with multiple views.

Comfort and Interior Features

On the road, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado offers great ride quality. Even when unladen, the pickup truck handles bumps well, giving you a smoother ride that you can’t find in its competitors.

One thing I also want to point out is the muffled interior noise. The 2024 Colorado’s cabin is notably quiet, though wind noise is noticeable at highway speeds.

Aside from the cargo bed, the Chevy Colorado truck includes a deep center console with a divider, small door pockets, and limited under-seat storage.

New Bison ZR2 Edition: Ultimate Off-Road Capability

As an enhancement to the already capable ZR2 trim, the newly introduced Bison ZR2 Edition trim turns Colorado into an off-road powerhouse.

Unlike the rest of the lineup, the  Bison ZR2 Edition has an increased Ground Clearance of 12.2 inches. The truck’s Approach, Departure, and Breakover Angles have been improved for better off-road performance.

Thanks to the American Expedition Vehicles Collaboration, the 2024 Colorado Bison ZR2 Edition truck has specialized front and rear bumpers, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and skid plates. It also has tubular Rocker Protectors that add protection for the truck’s underbody.

On top of that, the  Bison ZR2 Edition has a set of Essential ZR2 Equipment, such as a 3-inch lift, wider stance, Multimatic dampers, and locking front and rear differentials.

Competitors to Consider

While Colorado sets a high standard, it faces competition from other newly redesigned trucks like the Ford Ranger, the Tacoma, and the Ridgeline.

The Ford Ranger recently underwent a redesign. It now offers a new design and interior technology, in addition to its off-road capabilities and updated powertrains (which, by the way, feature a hybrid option). In Europe and other markets, the Ranger goes head-to-head with the Toyota Hilux.

The Toyota Tacoma continues to be one of the most reliable pickup trucks. For 2024, the Tacoma offers impressive off-road prowess to compete with the Colorado pickup truck.

In addition to its practicality, the Honda Ridgeline focuses on efficiency and comfort over off-road capabilities. It makes a compelling case and bests the Colorado on so many fronts.

Engine and Transmission

The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado is powered by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder available in two outputs. The base version of the engine delivers 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The TurboMax version of the 2.7-liter four-cylinder in the 2024 Colorado produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

Just like the powertrain, the Colorado is available with a standard eight-speed automatic across all trims. This gearbox offers smooth and swift shifts.

The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado has a fuel economy that ranges from 16 to 22 mpg combined, depending on trim, specs, and configuration.

Towing and Storage

While the Colorado offers decent towing capabilities, storage solutions are a mixed bag. The center console is practical, but door pockets are limited in size. There is also minimal under-seat storage.

2024 Colorado Verdict

The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado stands out in the midsize truck market. Unlike its competitors, like the Ranger, the Colorado offers performance, comfort, and advanced technology. You get your money’s worth, whether you pick the base WT, the off-road-ready ZR2, or the rugged Bison Edition. Well, I mean. Sure, it may have a limited towing capacity and storage compartments inside the truck. But, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado has competitive pricing and well-rounded features that make it a strong contender among its peers. That sounds like a truck worth buying.
